Leg raises are a good way to loosen up your hips, calves, and hamstrings. They look kind of like incorrectly performed karate kicks. Instead of lifting your knee and then thrusting out the ball of your foot as you would do in karate, with a leg raise you simply keep your leg straight and swing it up in front of you as high as you can. Extending the ball of your foot and activating your calf muscle will add another level to the stretch.
